About Our Founder: Najimah Roberson and Her Commitment to School Choice
In the heart of Harrisburg, PA, Harrisburg Families United found its inception under the guidance and vision of Najimah Roberson in December 2020. This organization is more than a commitment to education; it is the embodiment of a journey that speaks to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of choice.
Najimah Roberson's story begins with a tumultuous childhood, marked by experiences that would deter the strongest of wills. As a young Black girl, Najimah faced the kind of adversity that few can imagine. Kidnapped by her father and taken to a crowded New York apartment with twelve other children, her early life was a battle for identity and belonging. Within those walls, Najimah encountered the harshness of a world that seemed determined to silence her voice and limit her potential.
Despite the physical and mental challenges she faced, her spirit remained unbroken. She harbored a passion for learning, a desire that was stifled by her captors yet never extinguished. The denial of further education only fueled her thirst for knowledge, sparking a flame that would later light the way for countless others.
